Head Model

Hi Guys

Heres my first proper attempt at a human head, below is the low poly wireframe.

Thanks to Jay for guidence with the loops etc, i'm sure that it can be improved so any crits or comments on improving it would be grateful.

only crit i got if you dont mind, ermms the ear looks abit small..
but overall i like it =)

Yeah man, the ears need quite a bit of work, i'll def make them bigger though, i didn't relise how small they actually were!

Hey. Looks good for a start and the edge loops seem to be set correctly. Though the nose, eyes and mouth could use some improvement.

Cheers Fubar, I know the mouth needs work, ive been having a bit of a hard time getting the right shape etc for it, need to go back to looking at other peoples work for some guidance etc.

With the nose what would you recommend?

In my opinion the nasal bone is too thin and too long. If you're not working with orthographic reference (which you should always do) search for some (female) face pictures.

Cheers man, I'll have a look into that, i've got reference so I really need to go back and have a closer look, as i more than likely got a bit carried away!!

Its very much a WIP, like I said its a first "proper" attempt so i'm really trying to keep it nice and clean on the geometry front as well as making it look "realistic"

Now that i've got the loops etc ok, i think, (unless anyone has Ideas for improvements) I'll go back for a tweek of the areas of concern and hopefully make an improvement (Eg adding tear ducts and creases in the eye area (as well as eyes), ears, nose lips etc.

Oh one other thing people, are the "Stars" in the right places for animation???

Good start but watch the loops on the nose. the one between the front nose tip and the nostril doesnt need to be there. Its making things awkward.

Also the ear, need to be part of the side of the head, so blend it in more.

Cheers Jay, I was thinking of getting rid of one of the loops in the nose area as it seemed a bit dense with some "unused" loops.

I'm gathering more reference at the moment for the problem areas (can never have too much!!), then i'll go back and tweek it to match.

I found creating the ears a pain in the a$%e and a bit akward, i'll revisit them and make som major changes now the basic shape is there.

Also are the "Stars" in the correct places??

Yeah a little, trying to get the eyes correct, need some more tweaking to get it like my references.

I've changed the nose slightly and resized the ears, i'm trying to get one thing sorted before moving on to another.

Heres an update pic
