Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Realistic Rain

Trying to get some realistic rain here. This is what I have so far. I used particles with instanced shapes. The problem is that since the scene will be around the clouds, the rain will only reflect blue and white making it unrealistic. Any ideas on making it look more real?

Sure, my first thought is to do it in postuser added image

One of 2 ways will work fine here:

1. Render out your rain as a separate 3d element so you have more control over the luminance and color (chromanance) of the rain plate in your compositing package.

-OR-

2. Generate your rain directly IN your compositing package.
Most decent compositors have a particle generator that enables you to achieve rain, etc.
And if they do not, then usualy there are plugins avaiable that can help.

Good luck!

Thanks Ragecgi. Looks like I'll be doing this in post. Another problem though is that I had the particles to collide with another object. Will I have to dump collisions if I plan on post compositing?

@starjsjswars- I just made a custom theme in windows and changed the color there so the color carries on in most programs with the "old" bar.

And for your question, no, you shouldn't have to at all.

You could also render out your particles as a separate render-layer in the event you are worried about ituser added image

Good luck!
