Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

XSI has its SDK tho user added image

kev: we should have a simplycombustion/simplyshake site or something, because every 3d package needs a compositor to go with it

I may open a section of the forum to have things like shake and deep paint 3d in, but i dont think that these 2 products could survive and have a community base on their own.

not a simplyshake.com coz you can only buy that for apple now (you can only by the upgrade for windows now...not the full version)

i'm looking at Nuke, not that I will be able to afford it at $10,000 per license....AFX from now on

to be honest....(i know a lot of maya fanataics will kill me for this)...maya's renderer does suck(w/o mr)....i think alias has been overlooking on this for too long.....what i would like to see is good exposure control, good gi,good light tracer like thing, good caustics and more aaliasing filters.....i hope the guys at alias read this hohoho :-) this is the only reason thats holding me back from purchasing maya and y i still use max for pretty much everything i was paid to do :-)

The main reason Maya's renderer isn't up to much is coz when it was really expensive the main users were big effects houses, and they usually used PRman to render

but now that the price is a lot less, it came into the general publics price range. This is the main reason for giving us MR

you go ahead and do it. my plugin would be doing nothing. but it would still install all the cool stuff in maya the way i want them to be in. user added image

Every software has it's day. Remember how popular 3dMax once was? Still is but nothing compared to what it once was. Maya will eventually be outdone by other software - that is inevitable. Maybe the time for that is now. I hope not, considering I spent the last 7 months learning it. =|
