Movie Minitures?

Anyone have any experience sculpting movie minitures? I am thinking about using super skulpy for the organic forms and soldering tubing and bars with plastics for the rest. I want to play with using all elements in my demo. Real video footage, 3D animation and physical minitures. Playing with the mcfarlane toys, photoshop and maya is turning out to produce some great stuff. They use this tequnique in movies so why not.

Theres a plasticy meterial i use once and a while at a glass shop. Very sculptable and easy to use. And the color changes depending on the heat on it. So you heat it up and it turns greenish and hard. Put it in the freezer it becomes orange and soft. So you can model it over and over, Ill get the same when my mom comes home.

Hey Rick. From what I've read, Sculpey and Super Sculpey seem to be the favorites. But it all depends on how big you're going to make them. For characters, I would use the sculpey. But for things like trees or landscapes, you would probably want to build the armature or framework, then form it with whatever material will take up the main bulk (like paper or aluminium foil). Then use plaster to create the main face of it.

Heres some kewl sites I had in my archives. Enjoy! user added image
