Awesome work so far!

quick question: do you plan on animating this model? if so, did you model the part of the body that is hidden by the clothes? Does that even matter? I was wondering how you would handle the rigging and deformations and cloth simulation.

keep up the good work!

Thanks. Theres no animation required for this model, though it will be rigged fully, as its for a 3d graphic novel, see link below at outlaws3d.

As for the model itself, I only model what you are going to see, so no theres no underlying body beneath the clothing. And the clothing itself will be poly as I use Maya Complete. Even if I had Unlimited I wouldn't contemplate using the cloth sim as you need some serious power to get a fast result and time is precious as it is when you model texture and rig.

Cheers for your question

Jay

very very cool stuff jay, an inspiration to people viewing it user added image
great work on the texturing too

Is it because of less shoulder mass that his replacement arm looks a little low? Just an observation and not a criticism user added image

Looking back at the earlier characters, if you had time would you go back and play with them more (not in a dodgy way!) or are they set in stone?

Hey Tick

No they are the same level I'll post a front view later on. I think its because of the angle of the pic and also theres no flesh to fill it out so maybe thats why it looks that way too.

As far as the earlier characters are concerned, hmmm...(ponders) lets just say they arent set in stone. Ive been veeery busy as far as the sheriff and the girl are concerned as they are main charcters, but thats all Im saying right now so watch this space.

The alien guy and the other human are fine, thought the blue alien will get a better texture which wont be done right now until his scenes are ready (they are very short anyway so Im not going over the top with that)

Dont worry either about crit, or observations, they are indirectly the same thing, I take all crit good and bad otherwise I wouldnt expect to improve, but also I view things also from the point that I cant always second guess an audience as all tastes will vary.

Cheers

The color scheme on this guy is spot on. I love the biker dude look. Is that how he lost his arm and leg in some drunken speeder bike wreck? Are you gonna add any hair to this guy?

Really neat, Jay!

Hey Dave

Thanks Bud.

Ya know you gave me an idea with the biker comment, as I'd originally got him running out of the bar and getting shot down in the street, which is good anyway but I now may add to the suspense and add a bike for him to get on, and get shot off instead!! Sweeet!!user added image

Cheers Dude

LOL

Have another, have added a 'biker style' faded logo on the back, thanks to Swanky for the idea.

Cheers
