Axe W.I.P

Hey everyone,
This is a new W.I.P that I have been fooling around with for a few days just to get used to maya and the tools. I am not following exactly off my reference but for the most part it is the same with the reference. Any crits would be very helpful!! Any thoughts on what I should add or what I shouldn't have!Sorry for the renders again I am still trying to get used to the texturing and rendering portion of MAYA! Thanks everyone and hope you enjoy!

It looks really good, but i to me it looks like a one handed ax, so your probly dont need the spike that is at the bottom, just cut it off at the thing in the middle. also the top part of the blade on the back side looks like it bends too much and dosent flow in to the ax very well. just some suggestions for you. good model though.

Seems like the blade loses its sharpness at the end there, might want to pull a few verts back

Thanks

Thanks for the post guys.... I just read ur post guys and I changed some stuff before you said anything. Ive made this a double bladed axe instead of a single. The tip of the blade I noticed when you pointed out it doesnt flow right and Ill try to fix that soon. Also how it seems more dull at the bottom Ill get to that too!!! Thanks guys and here are some updates!!! Also I need to add some detail to the axe blade since it seems a little dull.

it looks kind of odd with the blades miorred upside down. also the bump in the middle of the ax blade looks a little odd. maybe if you extended it up to make it look like the blade went throuh the handel to make it look attached. maybe to help get ride of the dullness look on the blade is to extend it back further where is starts to slope down. theres just a few more suggestions for you. keep up the good job. user added image

lol...

actually I have not worked with 3d at much at all.... i fiddled with it on a friends computer years ago but that was a days worth of messing with spheres and cubes lol.... then I started to like the sound of animation and modeling and just the art of it! So I said what the hell might as well give Maya a try so I bought a DVD for polygon modeling a guitar and Ive learned most of my stuff from that. Getting a DVD from here soon to. Cant wait!
