Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Have you deleted the history?

I can't see the distortion that you are talking about (damm watermarks). What kind of distortions are these? How did you rigged the lap? Because I'm thinking... it might be that another joint (in the arm) is affecting that surface, and so when you move the first joint part of the surface moves but the other part stays because it's still obeying the second joint. That happens with smooth binding I think. Because this is not an organic model you should probably just parent each piece to a joint.

thanks NightPhantom, thans Peltra !!

was able to fix the distortion in the head.
was a joint problem indeed.
but now new distortions are occuring other places(see images).
if possible, i would like to use IK animation, far more covenient than FK (newbie talking here).
what can i do to fix these distortions?
i am using rigid bind

luk

ps: to the mod, i you feel this kinda posts belong in the newbie forum instead of here, just let me know
