Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Cheers for that speedy. ur right it still resembles fur.

Hi Cold. Long time no type...

Its the Maya Fur Grass Node. Tweek it here and there and rendered in MR.

As speedy says it still really resembles fur, but I am sorting that atm. clumping and putting in baldy bits etc...

Chris I like the grass a lot better , but the bucket lip top seems to a little wide though as it looks like the handle would not lift up past it.
The sky I believe is a temporary solution .
I like the overall compositon and when you get a few more objects in the scene to balance it out it will convey the scene you are after really well.

Not many toy planes have exhaust fumes. and mind you not many planes have exhaust fumes... Well none you can truely see... lol j/k user added image

Cheers for the crit John. The Sky is the HDRI used to light the scene. So no, it wont be visable. The plan is to add some bushes/shrubs behind the fence and then use an alternate image for the background, but tbh your not really gonna see much of the background....

Yeah the bucket is a worry, its too reflective and shiny so i need to change the material and the handle was an after thought  so thats why it looks like it wont go over. the Lip needs readjusting as its huge and then moved up and in so it will look like the handle actualy works.

Folks pse beaware I am trying to acheive a slightly Rendermanish look to the render, but not a toon render, if that seems clear. Probably not with my explanation. The renders are also preview and not production. currently it takes about 10 mins to render, due to the grass, so I estimate a production render will be anywhere between 15-30mins... Im to impatient for that.

God No...

This render would take about 1,000,000 hrs to render in maxwell and sod that. I mean Steve you know i am not a big fan of Maxwell and its all due to its rediculas render times (oh god here he goes again moaning about maxwell). user added image

Chris the bucket is much better ..looks great and I really love the reflection of the plane in the beachball.
I think the composion still need a little work though as the foreground seems bare and kinder empty, I don't think you need any more objects in the scene though as it would overpower the plane and make the scene look too crowded.Pehaps a slight rearangemnt of the objects or slightly different camera position might do the trick.
