Use Project from 7 Unlimited in 2008 Unlimited

Hi

I am working in Maya 7 unlimited and I am going to take my projects to my friends house but he is using Maya 2008 Unlimitd, I do have a dongle for my Maya 7 so I could take my copy of 7 and load it on his machine but I wondered how I would get on if I opened my Maya 7 projects on his 2008?

Also Maya 7 has a 2GB max for the memory, will any of the newer Maya versions see anymore memory, I am thinking about up grading but I don't want to do it for the sake of giving Auodesk a load of my cash!! any thoughts?

Thanks for reading

save them as .ma files and then open in wordpad or whatever, then change the version to 2008.

You dont need to do all the word pad stuff going up a versions, its only 8.5 and below that you have to do that stuff with as its not backward compatable (and only going down a version not up)

It will work fine just opening the files as normal, though you wont be able to go back to V7

Think it runs off the same as the previous versions in 2008 32 bit, for more memory either switch the 3gig switch (if your on XP) or go up to 64 bit

Have a google for it,

What it does is force windows to allocate 3gig to a programme over the 1.5 or 2 gig as standard.

It can be a tricky process if your not too sure about computers so its really up to you, as theres is a possibility of it messing up your PC if its not done correctly.
