Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Did you have the alpha channel check box ticked in your render globals?

Try rendering as a tif just to see if it works

i have rendered a tiff and that had an alpha channel wen i opened it in photoshop
i will check my render global settings though

edituser added imageadd on)
i tried again n fount that wen i save as targa it only saves the model and its shaddow and no black background so at least now i can composite it
i tried tiff it had an aplha channel but wen i used it it did not take its colour just black and white.

also does ne one know how to lighten the colour of the shaddow without effecting the actual colour of the model

many thanks

do you mean the shadow in your render?

If so you can render it as sepperate layers and composite it in photoshop, adjusting the opacity/colours/ contrast etc of the shadows
