Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Newbie Rendering Question

Hey Everyone,

First off, I'm an admitted newbie with MAYA, but I'm learning.

I'm think I'm trying something simple. I have imported one of the test OCEAN scenes from MAYA. All I want to do is to have text come out of the water. I created the text, keyframed the movement and within the editor, it looks great.

If I try and render one of the frames where the text is being shown, the "render" just shows the ocean, not the text. Why is that? I have done nothing more than actually "type" the text and move it for keyframing. Do I need to assign a HYPERSHADE to it?

I'm sure I'm missing something really simple. Please help.

Thanks everyone.

What type of geometry your text is?

(if it's just curves it will not render... you need to have some "real" geometry like planar surfaces if they're just nurbs curves)
