Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

From what I see the face looks really good. The reference pictures look squashed to me for some reason. Texturing will really make this model so I will be looking forward to that.

You mean the reference picture of the Marine?

Yes, The side view of the marine does not seem to fit the front. It seems a little squashed vertialy. I could be wrong. I have been know to be on occasion. If you give me a straight side shot of the marine and the reference I could tell you.

Here's an update on the Face, I'm working on it at the moment.

I would like some help with how to continue. Especially with the eyes, mouth and nose. And overall shape.

Any help is good. Thanks user added image

I am not very experienced with low poly. The ones that I have seen are really held together from solid texture work. That is what makes or breaks the model. The best ones seem photo based also. I wish I could help more. I see some concave polies which you might want to take care of.

Btw, do you think I should texture the ear instead of having geometry for it?

OK, I see now. It is not the reference. Your model follows the contour roughly. Notice how the sketch the cloths tuck in. The cloths are baggy. The problem is the model does not portray the baggy aspect. It just make the body seem to thick. Here is a rough draw over (red) of what I am taking about. I would check the front to. This is nit picky right now so I hope you do not mind.

Did some texturing to the Helmet. Gonna do a bumpmap on it later on. Here's a render with GI-Joe (a little darker setting):

IMHO it doesn't need a bump-map; being photo-derived, it is already photorealistic.

Yeah, but some things are a little flat.
