Oliphant Bump Texturing Problems

Hello guys

I have some issues while texturing my Oliphant.

I am at the bump texturing stage.

I applied a basic bump with numbers on to find the issue.

The first is the unsmoothed version and the second is with the Maya bog standard smooth on and you can see that it has stared to cause problems around 5 and 6.

It has to be said 5 and 6 falls over an edge but it shouldn't be doing this should it?

Cheers in advance for your help.

looks like 5 and 6 might be over lapping, double check in teh uv editor. You can try to relax some of the uv in that section to help even them out as well.

Thanks, I have a feeling I was a little hasty with my UV mapping.

I remember saying to myself when I was doing it 'that'll do'.

It was true when I was doing it that it looked fine but I could saved myself some of the issues now if I had spent some more time back then.

I will go back and start touching it up and see if the problem is still there.

Thanks for you time and I will post back to let you know how it went.

I have a Wacom coming soon so that should make my job a little easer.

Peace.

Got other issues so this could take a while.

I don't like the way the smooth also alters my UV stuff. Even when I untick the smooth UV (or something) it still has an effect.

I am tempted to do just the trunk and then check what it looks like and see if it is acceptable.
