moving camera during animation

hi y'all!
I got some basic knowlegde of modeling and animating in maya, but now I want to add an extra dimension to my animations by moving the camera around the object..
Can somebody tell me how to do that, or give me a link to a tutorial where that's explained...I can't seem to find a tutorial about moving the camera during an animtion ...
greetings,
Mayalover! (bastiaan)

keyframe the camera (f-key) at several points in space. For preciser control I suggest to use a path wich the camera will follow.

thanx for your lightningspeed reply!

but can you be more specific.. cause when I hit the f-key.. I loose my model.. It just disappears and I get a grey screen in that view... and i can only see my object in the other views... (side front and top....

greetings bastiaan

You can create a camera (create > camera) and animate it as you would any other object.

Ok, heres how i do it.

Panels> Perspective> New
Display> All

Go to side/front/top view, and zoom out, untill you can see the cameras. Make sure you select Perp1 and not perp.
Highligh Perp1, go to your begining frame, and hit S. Switch to your ending frame, or a frame in the middle. Move the camera, and hit S again.

Panels> Perp1
Go back to your begining frame, and hit Play. make sure its how you want it. Now you have your regular Perspective camera to move around your object, but a set camera for your animation. Make sure you select Perp1 in your Render Globals before you do your batch render.

Armitrex Studios
Now open!!
