New FBX importer for DX Studio

Just thought you might like to know that FBX models can now be imported straight into our 3D engine & editing suite, DX Studio (www.dxstudio.com).

Hi Bob,

I've just had a look at DX Studio and it looks quite interesting. I've done some work in Virtools and seeing as the licencing is crazy was looking around for a new system to play with (in an indie student developer type of role).
DX Studio looks like its along the same lines as Unity which I downloaded the other day to try. Have you tried that and what do you think makes DX Studio better than that or something like Virtools?

Cheers
Si

Hi Si,

Unity is similar to DX Studio, the key difference being Unity is for Macs. Also, akaik Unity does not have it's own built in model editor.

We've had a lot of people come across to us from Virtools. I haven't used it but the key complaints I've heard (other than price) were about limited functionality and a slow/unresponsive dev team.

Might be worth posting the question on our forum for more views as I'm sure a few of our users will have had the same questions.

Cheers,
Bob

FYI we do offer heavily discounted educational licenses that are directly equivalent to our full commercial licenses (no royalties etc) which could fit with your needs.

Cheers for the feedback Bob user added image

I'd have to disagree about the functionality of Virtools as it is fairly easy to get into the case style scripting (especially for some non programmers) and when that limits you then you can start using VSL (C like built in language construct) to create reusable behaviours.
On the issue of support however I think you are definitely right. I've seen lots of things ignored and usually you have to hope someone else has done or knows how to deal with the things you're often stuck on. You end up digging real deep in the forums in the vain hope of understanding your problem in a roundabout way.

Think I'll be having a look at DX Studio towards the end of my course user added image
