sprite troubles

Hey guys, I'm trying to create some smoke sprites in photoshop but am having trouble getting the alpha channel on them, so that when I apply them to sprites in Maya they are transparent around the edges.

Any help would be very much welcome.

Ya soz just read it back to myself lol and I see what you mean.

No worries I have sorted it not, its just because when I was setting the colours in photoshop they weren't pure black and white if you see what I mean, for instance the white was not at 255 in the RGB colours.

I have been drawing smoke particles in photoshop and basically was messing up the colours, but have it now so all is good lol.

Cheers anyways.

Hey mirek, I shall chuck some screen grabs up when I get the time (lots of projects, v little time lol), but for now I have just discovered the wonders of using the smoke, etc from the visor as a brush in the paint effects window, and just drawing up quick ones from there.

no problem mate, i have a few tuts on it.., just wondering how you were oing your smoke.., you told me.., with paint effects.., sounds good to me.

you could try mapping volume fog with a 3D texture (animate the ambient channel with an image sequence) to get some nice smoke effects in your scene but thats another story

check.., gnomon on line
