Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Anoter update. On this one I rendered in layers using an occlusion pass and a depth map for the DOF effect.

Hey Jay, thx for the kind comments user added image

Here is a small update. I deformed slightly the right side shoulder armor piece, raised the whole armor a tiny bit to make room for some cloth that will go inside and played a little with the SSS. There are not texture maps for the skin yet.

more progress. Tweaked a few things here and there and added chain mail to the neck area. I may add chain mail to the armpit area as well, I think it will look nice with it on it, i just need to figure out a good way to control how I shape it so that it take less time.

that armor is freakin amazing man, i was thinking of doing a character with a three-quarter length chainmail jacket thing, how long did the chainmail take?

btw, is the detail on the middle of the armor modeled in or bump map?

Hey Acid, its a bump map. Im not that crazy. I may play around using a displacement map, but not sure how much better it will look.

The chain mail is easy to make flat...but giving it the shape you need is the nightmare. I had read about a way to attaching the flat mail to a plane using dynamics and then modifying the plane. Not sure how well that would work though.

Any suggestions Jay?
