edit:
if you go to the hotkeys settings and then go to tools and then find "enterEditMode" you can change the key to be used up in the top right

It lists menu items in the main menus, as well as commonly-used operations, such as Display Wireframe (hotkey 4). Also, you can assign hotkeys to your own MEL scripts or to commands that accompany plug-in software
