Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

The Wasp Texturing

I'm moving this over from the challenge forum to continue with the texturing of the model, if you want to view the progress of the modeling stage please follow the link to the original thread https://forum.simplymaya.com/showthre...threadid=25443

Anyway I have made a start on UV mapping the body area and already i can tell this is going to be a slow progress job , but hey maybe it will be worth it in the end user added image

nightmare...
I managed to get the fence ironwork individually UV'ed and now have just the easy top and bottom handrails to map.
Stairs are done too although not seen here in this pic.

daffas the coloured number texture is just a test texture to allow me to layout the UV's and see if there is any stretching, the real texture comes later ..lol

Looks like you've got the layout sorted mate.

How you thinking of doing it, materials wise, worn out and beaten up? or all new?

i haven't really decided about textures or colours as of yet was gonna open it up for suggestions.
I do favour beaten up as oposed to new but as for colours not sure whether to go for wasp colours or something else.

I've been reading up on texturing the last couple of days and so I somewhat understand the task ahead of you. Hope it's not too painful. Anyway, I think a model that AWESOME definitely deserves to be textured and if your texturing is half as good as your modeling, were in for a treat.

Thankyou Perfecto, If I am honest texturing is not my strongest discipline but I will take my time and hopefully get this one right.
UV mapping well takes quite a while and should not be rushed so by the the end I might get a ltttle ratty with the project..lol

Hey J

Think I would go for a old semi rusted look, kind of like what the some of the metal Victorian bridges are like overhere.
