Really nice work, especially the way you integrated it with the illustrations in Flash. Are those from the technics manual or did you do them up in Illustrator or freehand?

Now for the criticism: The only thing that I thought was a little strange was the chrome looked a little off if you're trying to achieve photorealism. I can't put my finger on it but it's just something I noticed. I'm guessing it's just an eye-candy type of piece rather than one designed to demonstrate each piece of the turntable. If that's the case, then the pace is a bit too quick to read. Minor things, though. Excellent piece...nice camera work...looks like a tv spot....I really enjoyed it.

thanks guys for your comments!!

NitroLiq: yes it´s more for eye-candy. I agree about the
crome material. I made the illustrations from my maya
modell. I exported frames from maya to .swf and imported
them in Flash.

.:morpher:.: I made the compositing in After Effects.

But wasn't your model fully textured? I thought for sure you traced some of the tech drawings in the technics manual for the Flash stuff.

NitroLiq: yes it´s fully textured. but I choose to export
from maya to .swf (the animo swiffworks plugin) with
just one color (white) and black outlines. thats why I
could animate the pop-up illustrations. but I did make it
look like it´s from the technics manual, with the black
frames around the illustrations.

cheers

VERY GOOD WORK indeed!
I would like to know, when the vector illustrations pop-ups rotate acordingly to the camera plane ... did you achieve this effect in AfterEffects using the 3d camera features? Or was it in Maya?

Very nice work! Were you inspired by the VW turbo Campain Commercials a while back?? I am currently trying to do something similar here at work, and I was wondering what you did all of the little pop ups and stuff. Was that all done in afterEffects? did you render out the parts differently to get the Vector look? of did you use the edge filter in AfterEffects? I am vert intersted in how you made this animation. user added image Very Professional, I really enjoyed watching this piece.
