help with blendshapes...

Anybody out there done facial animation with Blendshapes?? I have quite a few times, but now I am stuck, I have the orientation set to local, but no matter what I do, when ever I try to create a blendshape with my heads, the driven head, keeps moving over to the target head, user added image I have tried to delete history and freeze transformations, but it doesn't work. If I create two new objects, it works fine.... Grrr. Thanks!
Brian

Hey brian... That happens to me some times too.... did you make all the blendshapes from the original head?

Sometimes it messes up if you dont make all your copies form the original... Do not freeze tranformation on the copies...

Try selecting all your targets in one selection, than shift the original then create blendshapes.

If that dont work... I just redo them, there my be a way to fix it but I havn't figured it out yet.

THats what I was afraid of. I have 12 different facial expressions, now I have to recreate them all. : ( Oh well... What happened was that I converted it to Sub d's and made the Blendshapes, but I decided to make everything back to polys, and recreate the blendshapes.. , I guess because I went back and forth between Subs and Polys, it dosen' think that its a copy from the original anymore. user added image oh well. Thanks alot Kurt,
Brian

Hi Brian,

Try using the transfer vertices function in polygon or edit polgon menu to transfer the blendshapes (one at a time) onto your original head. what this should do is rectify the translation problem you mentioned in your post by bringing each blendshape back to the origin (ie. your base head's origin).

Do one at a time and simply export each shape out as a obj file and then undo to bring back your base head shape and repeat for all other blendshapes.

I havn't tried this but in theory it should work fine.
