attatching nurb surfaces

I have made a simple tube by lofting two circular curves. I have then filled in the each end of the tube by selecting the end isoparm and doing a planar. So I have two circular surfaces capping a tube. I want to attatch these so that i can convert it to a polygon shape. I have tried the attatch surfaces option, but It wont work. Possibly I think because of the difference in u and v between the surfaces, but with this particular geometry I dont see how it can be helped. Any ideas anyone? I was thinking mayb the stitch tool?
