Help, view control dissappeared

The three dimensional axes used to shift views dissappeared. How can I get it back?

go to panel > Orthographic > persp

If you are talking about the view compass, go to the menu in the relevant panel and select, view>camera settings>view compass to turn it off or on.

yeah, space and back click is pretty fast, though it is good for seeing the 'other side' of your model.
