PRS Guitar

Decided to take a break from modeling cars, so I chose to make a guitar. PRS Guitars are pretty and all, so I decided to make one. Here's how I am after about 1.5 hours or so. user added image

Yea, still quite abit to do. Gotta fix the bottom part of the neck, where it meets the body. Make the strings, and basically convert it all over to sub-ds. Then texture, of course user added image

Looks good and has nice proportions. I was going to comment on the part where the neck meets the body, but it seems you are already aware. If you're converting that to sub-ds you probably could have got away with using a lower polycount because of the way sub-d's work.

Well, all together, its less than 1000 polys (quads, not tris). I myself thought that less than 1000 polys is pretty good (for me atleast). user added image

How are you going to make the strings? Basic cylinders or what? I noticed youve been avoiding them so far. Or putting them off.

strings would be the easiest part, just extruded circles along curves and then you could animate the curves if you had to.

hey that's pretty good - i was going to try to make a guitar at some point, nothing fancy like a prs but probably just a strat or something. a lot more stylized and cartoony but it's all the same basic idea. i like yours a lot, it looks nice. psyched to see what it'll look like in subd when the edges of the body will be smoothed out. did you just use the create poly tool to make the form of the body?

strap knob. Guessing 6 sides cylinder. Scaled down on one side, extruded smaller on the other, then extruded into the threads?

Just thinking of how i might do it. Plan on making one soon.

And think you can send me that tube script next time your online. I could really use it for some projects.
