I thought it was a pretty good model. I would like to see more starwars models in the download section. I downloaded a tie model from scifi3d some time ago, and for some reason it had a hidden enviorment only viewable in a render. I also downloaded a blockade runner from scifi3d, and it would not render in mental ray. I even downloaded a star destryoer aswell that said it was a 11 meg or so that came out to a whopping 100 megs and showed nothing in the modeling window. I am so dissipointed in scifi3d that their users don't make thier models more Maya friendly.

Here is your finished model. I changed some of the materials and made a little space render. I think it's a great model, keep up the good work. How about modeling some other starwars ships?

No problemo. It's too bad that alot of people here cant use your model. I read somewhere here that alot of people are still using Maya 4.5 . I just upgraded to Maya 6.5 this summer.

Did an enviorment for the cloud car, and I put in some windows on the model, and changed the materials. Getting the enviorment to match the model is very tricky. I had to do a refference from empire because the pic the model is in has no refference in it at all to go from. Over all I think the composite looks decent. The model itself could use a bit more work, I would say it's about 80% accurate to the movie versions. Keep up the good work though.

Gregy, try these steps and see if your models show in older versions of maya.

1 - save your scene in maya6.5 as ma
2- Open the ma file in Notepad
3- change all 6.5 to 6.0
4- save it ... file > save
5-Open your scene in maya6

Here is an example

1 - save your scene in maya6.5 as ma
2- Open the ma file in Notepad
3- change all 6.5 to 4.5
4- save it ... file > save
5-Open your scene in maya 4.5

I'm not absolutly shure it's going to work but try it anyway.

I think maya is a really good program. I think anyones investment in it is worth while, but I cant speak for the other CG applications because I have not used them, but I have seen fantastic work from the likes of Max, CD4, Lightwave, Rhino, Z brush and ect. I think alot of it depends on what you can afford or what you allready have. My personal opinion on Maya is that it's a superior package deal compared to the others because of it's animation abilities, but thats just my opinion.

Thanks for the link. Now if I could just find another site other than scifi3d that have free starwars models to download, that work in maya of course.
