image plane slows maya down dramatically
im just working through a video tutorial that uses image planes.
while the work goes on pretty well in the video tutorial, my system is about to stop when displaying this image planes.
is there an hidden option that i need to check? what can cause these dramatic performance issues?
my system:
amd athlon barton 2500+
ati radeon 9600 pro
1GB of RAM

it occurs again.
but now its pretty sure that my system isn´t to weak, because it worked for a short time.
does anyone know what to do?

"right click on my computer, and go to properties, advanced, environment variables, and under system variables click new, and under variable name write MAYA_SLOW_DRAWPIXELS, and variable value type 1"
