looking good kurt. Those areas where the wings start protruding in the tope view I particularly like. His wings are quite smallish? Is/was Pegasus a boy or a girl?

Fast render test in maya to see if the maps are working ok. Still needs a lot of tweaking.

what kind of maps are you using Kurt? Displace? Normal? 16 bit? 32 bit? wings are looking nice. A similar effect to what I wanted to create for a bird in my dragon scene, but I went about it the lazy way. The individual feathers look good.

Right now there is just a bump map on the horse. I have dis map ready to go once I get him posed if the bump dosent have enough detail. Feathers are all sepereate, and will bump map them.

Then I'll end up doing some painting over top skin areas on the final image, to make really small feathers, it will just take to long to place each one just for a single illustration.

i assume you're going to have to rig it to get it into a favourable position?
i assume you'd just soft skin the wings part and move the feathers accordingly?

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Started poseing the horse today. It still needs a bit more tweaking to get him twisting and weight right... More updates soon
