Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

The middle section for me is too high, as you said, its the only thing I would pick up as being off, but saying that you have yet to add the strings and bits...

thanks R@nSiD user added image I'm taking my time over edgeloops to make the mesh flow around the model. The height according to my reference photos is correct, but I think if anything is out it'll be more prominent soon

clean is what I'm after so thanks mayafreak3 user added image your model is far more realistic though!

Finally got round to having some time to play with this. I've added in the string pegs and rasied the flat area of the body. Next step will be the neck area followed by the base and the strings.

I need to find some time to get the modelling finished and start on the textures though.

Modelling Todo: Closures, spike and screw bits at the bottom, add an extra indent on the body and tidy up, cut the holes in the body out, join the bow together, add the strings, add the horsehair on the bow.
