Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

thanks some guyuser added image

small update - I have been working on the thumb and thigh and also doing some tweaking on other areas such as the shoulders, back and stomach. I also added a belly button. user added image

I could keep adjusting things on this model, but I think it's time to start trying to make the hotei.

Very nice progress and nice edge loops!user added image I cant say much about your topology. You mentioned early on about not wanting wanting to follow the refference pic to accurately. The Budda's robe will cover alot obviously.

its looking very cool with the new dimensions, definitely more like the concept ideas you were after. Only thing that pops out at the minute is the hands:feet proportions. I'd expect either bigger hands to match the feet or smaller feet to match the hands

keep it up user added image

Looks greeat Arran. Can really see this coming together.

If I was you I would add the details when you've posed him and got a good idea of how you want his expression.

Yeah sure looking good arran, I agree that the hands should either be bigger or the feet smaller in relation to each other, other than that, keep going!

THX1138 - cheers mate - yeah, I had been thinking about keeping him looking fairly realistic - I like the idea of making realistic mythical characters - but then when I started deforming him I changed my mind.

T1ck - good spot on the hands mate - I completely missed that.

goksimaster - I actually fattened up the feet a bit to help balance him out. I think I am going to leave them at that size.

gster123 - cheers mate - I'll probably add more details once I've got through making the clothes. At the moment I am planning to use a blend shape to make his smile.

Here is a small update - I made his legs a little bit shorter and I sorted out his hands. I also started blocking out his clothes and made a start on the tree / branch / stick thing that he carries.

looking good man.

Small crit:

His legs look like they are angling inward.

A simple exercise, is to stand up and relax yourself in a standard pose and look downward to see how your legs and feet are oriented.

Mine angle out a bit. (I checked my wife's legs to be sure hers did the same)user added image

Keep it up!user added image

I haven't used cloth before, so I was just going to model his clothes and then put him into the pose. To be honest, though, I am not sure, so any advice would be appreciated.
