Door Detail

Hey again,

My project isn't going to bad just another question for you all. I'm making a door got the basic shape, door knob etc. I'd like to add some more detail like the doors in the picture supplied. How would I go about doing that?

You would either wanna do a boolean on them, or alternatively and possibly less complicated, just extrude the faces in/out and scale them to whatever size you like.

You could model it in Sub-Ds, it wouldn't be too complicated, but it would be very time consuming, and the door would end up being very dense and unpractical. Your best bet would be to go with a Displacement map.

Yah, I would recommend adding more edges (edit mesh > insert edge loop tool) to create the indentation shapes on the surface, then extrude them in and out (moving and scaling as needed) to create the actual indentations (play with the bevel tool after this to help make more rounded edges). I'd recomend against boolians (unless there is no better solution), I personally find they cause more problems then they solve.
