ET Scared to Death

Hope you guys don't mind me posting my progress, here is a pic of ET. I am working on his skin weights and bones, And I thought that this was pretty funny. I am not trying to give Et the ability to have tons of expressions, I am going to try to capure the orignal expressions, (obvious this isn't one). I thought that the expressions on the remake of ET were a little over done, and It made the CG ET stick out to much. This model isn't 100% acurate either, but As long as the person watching the animation associates him with Et then thats fine with us. (Kurt and I).THanks,
Brian

Hello. Thanx for the replies. He and the bike are almost finnished for animation. I am going to go thru all of my video footage (about 30 min) to pick out wich shots to you tomorrow. Thanks for the info, it was all rendered with maya's render with GI_Joe. THanks,
Brian

Hey guys, here is the newest ET. All skin weights are almost finnished, and he is now poseable. I know his legs are alot longer than in the original movie, but in the animation he is supposed to be in the "teenage years", so he looks a little taller. He still has his long neck, but it can extend like it does in the movie. I am now starting on his skin texture. Let me know what you think

Hey, Grr.. I am stuck, no matter what I try I cannot get ET's mouth to close. So... I need to come up with something to cover it. How is this? Does it still resemble ET? I would only use it when He is on the bike. Please let me know if it looks better with or without the helmet. THanks,
Brian

without the helmet

btw...

check out www.highend3d.com , in the maya area in the tuts section, theres a file showing how to rig a pod racer with springs and such to make it move fluidly. check it out if you want. just an idea.

If it can't be fixed with duct tape and a hammer, it isn't worth being fixed... Unless it's my computer.

Thanks for the link. I tried that out about 2 weeks ago, and had some major issues with the set up. For some reason, I can play it once when I first open the scene, but if I play it anymore after that it doesn't play back. I couldn't figure it out, so I just made a different rig, but if you have tried this tutorial, and know how to fix that please let me know. He also gave a sample rig, but I had the same problem with that. Thanks,
Brian
