Game Character

Starting a new Game Character where the goal is to actually rig and drop the model into a engine to play around with no real reason other than for fun.

I have done some work in progress of the character that was inspired by a combination of ACU & Bloodborne.

See Head sculpt below. It was done from scratch using Dynamesh

I spend sometime last weekend making his clothes and detailing the low res mesh with folds, stitches and detail.

Feedback on making the clothing more realistic is appreciated... it feels a little flat to me like is missing weight some how...

Hi Mr Pinkus,

I like this guy, I imagine you're quite good at traditional drawing? the sculpting looks good to me...

I notice most of your creases on the jacket show horizontal stretching, whereas maybe some more vertical folds would help with the feeling of weight that you're missing?

It didnt stand out to me as being 'weightless' though... I think it's really good.

I wonder....how are you adding those bits of fine detail along the seams? the intricate decorative pieces that look like they're masked?

Thanks Ben,

I agree the wrinkles are very heavily focused on pulling across the chest and back. I will play around with a few vertical wrinkles and see if that adds some weight. I actually think I have made the fabric to thin when I added the panel loops and that is adding to the feeling that it is lacking some heft.

The extra details is really simple! I just created a few custom alphas in photoshop and then applied them to the masking brush with drag as the stroke. Then once I had laid them out where I wanted them I extruded the detail up so it looks like filigree that has been stitched onto the fabric. I just applied a darker grey to them so you can see the detail easier while I am detailing the coat.
