that would depend on what u want to do with ur 3d package, max is mainly for games, maya has more sophisticated tools for films and that (but can also do games)

for games, learn max, it is simple enough to get the job done, and it doesnt have many fancy features, the graph editor in it isnt very good either :S

if you want to learn maya, it would take a long time, but the graph editor is very nice user added image i find animating in maya a lot easier

if u need any help with maya animation, just email me

any more questions? user added image

Hey m8!

I´m running on a HP Pavilion model, 950 Mhz, 128 Megs, 40 Giga disk drive ... no 3d card. And Maya runs great! So don´t worry, I guess it´ll work at yours also .. besides if you are in this for the long run, it pays to learn Maya.

Yes I would tend to agree....MAYA is the way to go......it's more powerful than max.....of course both programs have their pros and cons.....but all around Maya is the better choice user added image

"If ya wanna weak out... then 3dmax is the one"
