I have one rock that I want to duplicate a 100 times

I have one rock that I want to duplicate a 100 times is there that sort of function in maya, I know how to do it in lightwave with particiles, any help would be great.

You could go to Edit --> Duplicate Option box and set the amount of times you want to duplicate an object.

Spread them out in the sky above the landscape, then select them all, add gravity. Then click your landscape and click the "passive rigid body" button. That would take alot of processing power, maybe you should try it with just 1 first.
