Convert .3ds to Maya

Hey guys,

I found a model of a dinosaur but its only in .3ds. Is there a way I can convert it to maya binary or something without using 3DsMax? Or if some kind and brilliant person could export it to .obj if they hav 3dsMax :blush:

I'll attach it just incase.

go get the maya bonus tools from autodesk - they have a *.3ds importer

Hey thanks for the help. I downloaded the Bonus Tools and it worked but I have found a better model in .Max format which can't be imported. Could it be exported to FBX in 3dsMax then I could import it?

open the .max fil into 3dmax and export as *.3ds or *.obj or *.fbx

Yeah thats the thing. I dont own 3ds Max. I was wondering if there is a plugin or if someone could do it for me. That would be so awesome.
