autoSave

is there a way to have maya autosave scenefiles? it´s annoying to lose 30 or 60 minutes of work.. preferences don´t offer any saving options. I mean in a manner of not overwriting my origínal file, but creating temporary files like the .bak files with 3ds max. maybe someone has a script or something?

I very much appreciate any hints!

everything starts and ends in the right place at the right time.
