Given the amount of detail you put into it, you could probably get away with putting on shaders on some parts (turrets and such)and uv-mapping and texturing other parts (like the large flat areas). It looks great though, I'm a big fan of detailed modeling like this. Keep it up.

Fred yeah, I like the detail stuff. It takes a bit longer, but the results are better.

fred: yeah, kinda. gotta work it in sections already. Im only doing half of it and mirroring it, but even the half is getting pretty heavy. Still, only takes about 5 minutes to render in MR.

Thanks Rick. Glad to see you've resolved your rendering issue. user added image

wooh awsome...u said u r using mantal ray, why do u use it instead of software or hardware rendering,

Do you have to do extra things to render in mental ray?

Again impressive details.....

why do I use mental ray? Well, look at the image. It looks like it is an actual piece of plastic sitting in the sun. The renderes are aa much higher quality and more photoreal.

Yes, there are some things you have to do in MR to get it right.

I love it because it reminds me of speed racer and the mammoth car.
