Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Rifle - Boxmodel

Hello, I've worked with some DVD's and I'm still learning the basic tools and techniques.

I decided to make something of my own, and started up with a polygon cube. Using the 'extrude face' tool I began to work.

This is what I've done so far. I've used curves, booleans, combinetool, attach curves etc. so it's very basic things behind it.

Here is a picture! I can post a wireframe but that will show how badly organized it really is... ^^ Not very clean model...

Testrender using Maxwell render with some help from a workpartner. The material is just lambert with some different colors, no textures.

Cheers!

it looks very good. Nice and clean.
If you want to go for realism it needs more detail along most of the edges i think, and along a lot of the body parts. Cuts, extrudes, indents.
I think this could look really good as a cartoon like rifle if you skewed the proportions of the scope and the barrel and some of the central pieces a bit.
Good work though, keep it up!
