Looks great! can't wait to see it come to life.
Will you be using a properly modeled/textured monkey or a block monkey(I don't know how these characters are called)?
Good luck,
Benny

Thanks dude!
I will just be animating a proxy, its a motion study so i dont want to do anything more than is necessary for that output.

More C&C would be appreciated ppl.

Laurie

I'm just interested in seeing this, don't really know what proxy is or what it is you're doing, kind of why I'm interested.

i'm not sure what to crit on

i see a film of a block that happens to resemble a monkey jumping from pillar to pillar until it gets to the grpound

why does it jump so high for the first one?

is each jump meant to be different?

you could have like a jump where it summersaults into a kick?

it looks simple and finishable in a week i think

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D

your looking at keyframes, this is a plan sheet used to block out the arcs spacing and timing. this is basically the animation phase everythign else is just going through the motions. (no pun intended) so the crit could be on the poses etc

I dont want to overcomplicate the animation so ill keep it at this, 4 limbed body mechanics of any description is hard, lots of weight transfer and overlapping arcs.

Ill shove the poses into premiere to show you what i mean.

nice job laurie - this is looking solid so far.

the only thing that stood out for me at the moment, is the tail which just seemed a little stiff, especially when he lands on the ground - maybe it would have a bit more of a late follow through from the downward action... i dunno tho - and i'm sure his tail will be easier to work on when you start animating.

don't forget to post up some updates. user added image

Looks good Laurie! I watched many monkeys swinging round the trees near our old house in South Africa, keep an eye on the tail movement, as they use their tails for balance and to curl around objects for support.

I know it's a blocking diagram, but the tail seems to point up most of the time right now. When leaping it is more likely to be level'ish with a curl on the end...

Things I would keep at the back of the mind...Squash and Stretch!!!

Nice sketching!

-Jacques.

edit: just noticed arran's post above...ditto!
