This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

I'm guessing you probably mean the DVD's and tutorials. You can earn points by either buying them, or entering contests and winning them, or by being a very helpful member in the Forums and being voted Member of the month by the moderators. With those points, you can accumulate a number of them and have DVD's posted to you. You can also use them to watch tutorials that require points.
