Lego Characters

Hello Everyone!
Long time no see! I've been a wee bit busy with work as i got a new job as a games tester over at TT Games (they make the lego series of games - Currently Harry Potter!) So not really had any time for 3d but im gonna get back on it with a lego inspired theme of my fav characters from games and movies. The list so far will be Kratos from god of war, Wolverine from the xmen, Superman from well superman lol and Master Chief from halo.

Im currently drawing out my designs so will post them up when i have my final selections but im really excited about this 1 as it seems really fun and once ive got the base mesh of the lego man sorted thats 90% of the work done lol.

T

Well after a few hours on google ive found some amazing stuff. Seems there are hundreds of people who do this kinda thing to real lego! so loads and loads of inspiration ive only got the arms left to model, then lay out the UVs and then time for texturing which will be teh bulk of the work. Should have some pics up this weekend! oh and another character for the list... Ezio / Altair from Assassins Creed user added image

Base Mesh - Just needs UVs sorting. Then its time for the fun bit. I will also be making small accessories (Swords, Guns..etc.) 2071 polys just over my 2k target i set but close enough. Crits welcome i know its early stages but since there isn't much more to a lego character...

Yay! I'm glad I could inspire. Sorting out those hands will only take a couple mins! I also like how you have done the hip joint on the inside too, they do on the lego games as well - I havnt just because i think if i did that i would need to add some thickness to the whole leg which is more polys and not actually worth the detail (aiming for game res).

Are you going to texture / make any character in particular?

Hi mate,

that looks cool, hahahaha cant wait to see more.

I had trouble trying to scale the hands down, when I do it scales the wrist down too, will try to fix it today.

Yeh my boy wants his Policeman done so I will do it for him. I was taking a break from UV my Spitfire (gaawwwwddddd).

I used one of his 5 million lego's to model on (measured and all!!) and he picked the Policeman with a bashine gun (machine gun). I will map it out for him, I dont have a tablet as yet so doing any fine work in PS is impossible with a mouse.

Keep it up man, love it, good to have something simple to work on. It would make a good mini tutorial actually, simple with a few different ways of doing things.

I ended up with 1975 faces in total, I could probably reduce that by deleting some edges.

Awesome idea. Love it so far. Lego Kratos FTW!

Bullet: Can't you just select the faces that make up the pole that runs into the arm, and just scale them individually. Then just level them off.

... that's if I'm understating your problem properly.

Nice work though guys!
