Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

More on the elephant, mostly just added wrinkles everywhere
he needs more wrinkles at the bottom of his trunk but I didnt add them in geometry because it would be far to dense
do you think he's ready to texture?

the trunk wrinkles are too uniform, looks like the hose of a vacuum cleaner or something
but i figure that's probably what you meant when you said it needs more wrinkles?

Elephants have quite deep wrinkles in circles on their trunks (those that I modeled) and other random wrinkles (that ill do with a bump map or displacement map)
heres a picture to show what I mean: https://www.liv.ac.uk/~sdb/Safari-200...hant-trunk.jpg
But by more wrinkles I meant more circles but I will need plenty of other wrinkles too

yeah, looking at that picture of the elephant it looks like you can't trace a single ring right way round in a uniform manner (i dont even know if what i just said makes sense)

the wrinkle rings are interrupted by other wrinkles, they are there, they just aren't straight like how you have so far (but as i said before you probably know that already and that was just a proof of concept picture to make sure you could do it, right?)

It would just be ridiculous for me to do all those wrinkles in geometry, Ill use a displacement map or a bump map (might give displacement a shot this time)
I just modeled the deepest wrinkles.

I just finished UV mapping the elephant so I should have something finished in time.

Looking nice so far. Are you thinking of using SSS?

I find that it can lower the overall depth of a bump and also change the sense of scale of an object.

Some of the bunps seem to be a bit uniform in depth along the trunk, but that may be due to the size of the picture distortign the look.

Not too sure where its going at the moment but I'm sure that it will come together.

Cheers

Steve
