MEL: copying animated attribute values

I have bat wings with animated finger joints. I get one wing flapping correctly and then copy the non-IK rotation attributes manually. Tedium. Big time. I'd like to use MEL to copy one wing's finger & wrist positions to the other. However, the manual says that "Each attribute can only have one driver", and the text suggests that what I want to do isn't supported.

Am I misreading this? It seems to me that mirrored motion is something that comes up frequently, so I would expect a tool that's been around as long as Maya would have some support for this sort of thing. How do people do what I'm trying to do?

I'm using Maya PLE 5, by the way.

Thanks.
