Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Merge Edge Tool

Hi!

I have a church in my scene which consists of 10 pieces. I combined them but now I have to merge the edges. I used the merge edge tool until now but it is a lot of work to click every single edge a few times. Can I use the selecte edge loop tool and automatically merge them?

did you combine the pieces?

just select them all, combine, and then merge the verts.

I think if you double click on one of the edges, it should select the entire edge loop, so that should be faster than select each individual edge... alternatively, you could use a side view and drag a selection around the edges, the Ctrl-drag the ones you don't want... also, hit g to redo the last command (i.e. merge in your case) which might speed things up a bit too. Hope that helps.

that's a new feature with 09
you would do what hammer said, make sure everything is one mesh to start with then merge the verts rather than merge edges

in 8.5 on an apple you select two edges you want merged, hold apple right click and select edge loop utilities > to edge loop
then apple right click and select to verticies
then edit mesh > merge > []
set the threashold really low (and then just use the shelf button to merge verts in future)

no you can't
if you double click an edge in 2008 it just selects the single edge

double clicking an edge to select the edge loop is new to 2009
