Nov/Dec - Character/Creature - War - Witchy - Norm

I have a few ideas so I will note them down and then decide on one as I plan it out. As I didn't finish last month I want to try and aim for something doable.

1. Gandalf as the Drill Instructor from Full Metal Jacket, possible inclusion of hobbit on assault course apparatus thing or standing on a locker. This is vaguely the current front runner.

2. Hobbits at war; flag raising Iwo Jima pose (which may be a hobbit too far)

I had a vague idea about Ringwraiths in a Panzer tank as well, nothing like literal thinking user added image

Views welcomed.

Neat idea. user added image If you plan on doing Gandalf and/or Hobbits, then your thread is named incorrectly. Those would be considered characters. Not creatures. If you do you not plan on doing creatures, let me know and I can rename your thread.

Good to see you in again Witchy.

All good ideas mate, I can really visualize the hobbits raising the flag in classic heroic painting style.

The picture in my head of ringwraiths in tanks is hillarious and scary in equal measure.

Looking foward to seeing what you choose.

Hey Witchy! Good to see you doing this challenge! I must say im very interested in seeing the Hobbits on Iwo Jima pose! Although Gandalf as a drill intructor would be funnier I think hehe..Looking forward to your work man! user added image

Couple of WIP shots of first hobbit head, textures are only basic shaders and need to add wrinkles and folds to face etc. Am going for a generic hobbity fairly cartoony look based on some illustrations I found, rather than specific film characters. Only my second ever attempt at a humanoid head, so by the time I get to a whole Iwo Jima's worth I might improve, you never know.

Bit of an update. I am trying to make all the hobbits look a bit different from each other, so this is vaguely intended to be an older, worried hobbit. With test helmet. Not sure what I shall do about texturing as I want to recreate the picture in black and white as per the original. think I shall try and model it all first and worry about textures later.

As we cannot do post render stuff in PS (does that still stand?) I assume I am going to have to texture in shades of grey to give a black and white effect. Anyone have any ideas on doing that?

Very Nice! He looks like an authoritative hobbit, barking orders and scaring the others. Now we know why the first looks so frightened user added image

Nice work! Kind of looks like Hitler Hobbit. For the textures, you can always desaturate the colors after.
