Mental Ray won't automatically load

So a few days ago, I tried to use an ambient occlusion texture, but I couldn't find "Create Mental Ray nodes" in Hypershade. After a bit of troubleshooting, I found that mayatomr.dll wasn't loaded in Plugins...I enabled it, Auto-load as well...but now, every time Maya starts, I have to enable mental ray through the plugin manager manually, since it will never load automatically (even though autoload is enabled...). What's the problem??

Happens to me as well the auto-load mental ray has never worked reliably in any version of Maya I've ever used.

Sheesh. Well it's not that bad after all. I only use MR for AO renders (I hardly know Maya) and the MR window doesn't open! Look at the bright side user added image
