Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Sept/Oct - Norm (I guess...)- jramauri

This is the first time I enter in a contest... So, I'm a little affraid. But I felt the good mood from people here, and I decided to try.
The game I choose is little known, it was an arcade released by Capcom in 1986. It's called Legendary Wings. to me was a important game, because it was the first arcade game I learn to play. The japanese version present two female chars, instead of the pair of man that stars the american version. I decided to model the female main char, Michelle Heart. Soon, I will post my concepts about her.

And here's my "upgrade" concept about Michelle. I tried to give her a more sexy look than that's shown in the game's flyer. And I gave her an athletic body, since she's a hero. Hmmm... Yes, I think she's able to save the world wearing like this user added image

A little bit closer. I should have spent more time in the gun... But I can do it later. Unfortunattely, now I have to go back to real world. I must admite drawing Michelle was one of the most funny tasks I've done in a long while, but I got back to work:p But briefly I will start the real task, trying to do a sculpture of Michelle. Have a nice day all of you!

Very nice concept sketch! I'm still working on my challenge concept sketch, just been lazy about posting it.

Now when you say sculpture, you mean clay sculpture don't you?

Thanks all for your comments. When I say sculpture, THX, I mean digital scupture, using Maya or ZBrush. In fact, work in ZBrush is pretty much the same as working on clay. But without mess!

Ah, I see. I thought you ment clay sculpture. Some buddies of mine who are taking Maya courses at Full Sail in florida have to take a clay sculpture class. They say it helps provide for a better refference to model from. I had thought you were doing the same. I like your method alot better, much cleaner.user added image

Very nice concept sketch there.
Only thing I'd say is that the ears make her look a little dopey.

Cant wait to see it modelled user added image

Now it's time to start. I liked very much the idea of make a sculpture before start modeling, like Pixar or ILM's guys do (and THX's suggested). But I have neither time nor clay to do, so I reuse two old models I have done in ZBrush, for topology research.

Putting my drawing as a image plane, I started modeling face, in the only way that works for me, poly by poly.
