Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Mercedes 500K

I started moddeling the 540 Mercedes out 1938 first time that I'm trying this on my own. I can say it goes pretty ok "I hope", but I ran into a problem somehow a corner is screwed up and I don't know how to solve this hopefully someone can help me .

I love this car!

Your modeling is looking good thus far.

As for the problem with the corner, please post an image of the problem area, without the Smooth mesh preview applied.
So that we can see the actual mesh, and not the Smoothed/averaged edges.

Nice work, looking forward to seeing this project progress user added image

it's where 3 edges come together and I can't get rid of the dent it's making.

did you check on non manifold geometry?

otherwise try to bevel those edges that go into the corner and try to fix what the bevel gave you and see how that looks

it looks like you have more then 4 edges on one vertex.
Check your quads, keep the quads and avoid weird corners with lots of edges.

Also try to model as if you would build the car.

Seperate the doors, mudflaps everything that is seperated will be best to model it this way.

The reason is that otherwise your car looks moulded.

And you will avoid complex edges which in the first place dosent need to be created as one part.

I made a couple of updates and made a render it is not final yet I am just playing with some settings and I haven't added any textures yet. And I would like some comments on this renderer it is the first time I am doing this as well for the car without any tutorial .

It's been awhile but everything is a first with this project so here another render update. I am slowly learning as well as for texturing.

Is there a way to reduce the flaking ? I reduced it already but maybe there is another way to do it ?
