Night Out

Made myself a wallpaper (of course the actual render is much higher res), thought I'd share (might have too much pink for the fellas though lol <3)

Maya
Mental Ray + Mental Ray Arch Shaders
1 Spot light with soft raytraced shadows
3 light cards
2 Area lights no shadows (for the pink and blue in the backdrop)
Render time was roughly 30 mins

Thanks guys, I had to go back and tweak the DoF (I painted it in Photoshop and I missed a spot, but I still love my bootleg Dof lol). Funny I did a rerender and it took around 20 mins, but then again, I've had MR act dopey until I reopen Maya :s

@ anasasis, yes its a bar, its actually just a poly plane but sshh don't tell anyone >.>

I'm posting the actual wallpaper now. Fair warning : its wide.

1900 X 1200 and post it up on interface lift!

Looks good! Now for a fiddely bit of crit! The bar bit, I cant put me finger on it but it sort of looke like the glasses are floating, sort of like what you see with some car renders.

MR being dopey, haha, try a right click render, shoyuld speed it up quite a bit.

Thanks Steve, I looked at it and I see what you're saying and I'm having a tough time figuring out if thats the way its supposed to be, what with the bar being relflective and all. I did do other renders because I didn't turn on AO on the mia_mat_x's, and I also putzed around with the camera some more just for the sake of "good to know", I'm happy with it but I'm already picking it apart but I guess thats normal. I might put it on Interface lift, who knows user added image

Yeah Gen, thats what I was thinking, might be one of those optical things.

I do that, make something then pull it apart as I always see something that I dont like, I should rendering layers more often and comp it together properly, then i'll have control, CONTROL I tell YA!!!!!

nice job - i like the colors a lot. nothing wrong with a bit of pink. user added image

not sure about the liquid tho - it just seems a bit thick to me, almost like goo - and i'm wondering if there would maybe be a bit more distortion.

hmm, yeah, i've never seen glowing liquid before :p
but then if it was glowing liquid maybe thats why it goes to the outside egde of the glass user added image
