Help with Characters Picking up things

hi guys

does anyone out there have any good video feeds on how to make a character pick an object and interact with it, then being able to release it when needed?

i have a character that has to pick up a ball and interact with it during the animation.

or any good advice is welcome.

But more simply, I would create a parent constraint from the hand ("master") to the ball ("slave") and you can key the weight on and off as needed.
